Types & Presence Of Phytochemicals:

  1. ALLYL SULFIDES
    These phytochemicals are present in the allium vegetables such as garlic, onions, chives and leeks.
  2. LYCOPENE
    These chemicals occur normally in the Solanaceous vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. Deposited in a number of body tissues, lycopene protects against heart disease, certain cancers, and a multitude of other disorders.
  3. GINGEROLS & FLAVONOIDS
    These two phytochemicals are present in the herbs and spices like ginger, mint, rosemary, thyme etc.
  4. MONOTERPENES (LIMONENE) & CAROTENOIDS
    Citrus fruits like oranges, grapes and grapefruits consist of these Phytochemicals.
  5. SILYMARIN
    This phytochemical is found in the Compositae plants (artichoke).

Conclusion

Thus, these phytochemicals have demonstrated their tremendous prevention in regard to treatment and prevention of cancer. It is advised that for health purposes, maximum amount of phytochemicals be consumed so that the person is not vulnerable to cancer and several other diseases.
